Distracted driving is dangerous to everyone on the road. According to the National Highway Safety Administration, in 2011 more than 3,000 people were killed in crashes involving a distracted driver. And, an additional 38,7000 people were injured in motor vehicle crashes involving a distracted driver. This is why many states have put bans on driving while texting and/or using a handheld device.
You may be familiar with your home states laws on distracted driving but if you’re planning on driving out of state, it’s a great idea to know the laws on distracted driving in each state you visit.
